Awful Town fell to a crushing 4-0 home defeat to Preston North End. The Blues rarely looked like getting back into the game after two goals from Lilywhites' striker David Nugent put the visitors ahead just after the half hour, David Jones and Patrick Agyemang completing the scoring.

Boss Joe Royle has confirmed the club will be appealing against Richard Naylor's red card at Millwall. The Town manager says he was confident his side would beat the Lions even after referee Mark Halsey had given Naylor his marching orders for denying Barry Hayles an obvious goalscoring opportunity.

Ten-man Town racked up their first away win of the season as they defeated Millwall 2-1 at the Den. Darren Currie put the Blues ahead in the first half but Ben May hit back for the home side prior to Richard Naylor's sending off, but Sam Parkin headed the winner with 10 minutes remaining.

Striker Sam Parkin could return to the Town line-up travelling to Millwall on Saturday. The former Swindon man is due to have the stitches in a head wound removed today and the Blues are hopeful he could be back in contention at the Den.

Boss Joe Royle is blaming blades on boots rather than the Dutch trialist for inflicting Sam Parkin's head wound. TWTD reported on Saturday that the unnamed Dutch striker's boot had caused the cut on Parkin's head which required 20 stitches.
